Sir William Perkins's School, The Head's Welcome
It is my pleasure to introduce you to our wonderful school – a lively and welcoming community where generosity, curiosity and ambition thrive, and where Great Things are expected.
At Sir William Perkins’s School, students are at our heart. We expect the best from them, and in return they can expect the best from us; both in terms of teaching of the highest quality – where each individual is stretched and challenged – and in receiving the tailored support and attention they need to achieve.
We are a warm and friendly school: we know our students, their talents, hopes and aspirations, and we work with them to develop innate confidence, leadership skills and an ability to perform well with others.
With access to a diverse co-curricular programme, students are accomplished all-rounders with university statements studded with personal achievements and successes.
Our students leave us in Year 13 with determination and clearly defined ambition – ready to make their mark on the world.
School Council
All students will be encouraged to get involved in the running of the School by taking on roles within the form and by representing their peers at School Council meetings, which are chaired by the Head Girl's Team.
There are many opportunities to contribute to the life and development of the School, take on leadership roles and train as mentors to support younger students.
Sir William Perkins’s School is an independent day school for girls aged 11-18 situated on 13 acres of greenbelt land in Surrey.
Here we challenge each student to explore their potential through academic aspiration and active participation. And we teach our students to expect great things of themselves, because we know they are capable of great things.

Homework
SWPS feels that homework is valuable in that:
- It can help students to make more rapid progress in learning
- It can allow students to develop the practice of working on their own without the constant presence of their teacher or other students
- It can allow valuable practice of skills learned in the classroom
- It can allow students to extend their learning outside of the classroom
- It gives opportunities to use outside resources and for long term research and projects
- The amount of homework set depends on which year students are in, and all students are given a homework timetable outlining their week's worth of work.
Year 7
Year 7 will have a maximum total of 5 hours and 20 minutes of homework set per week. English and Maths will set 2 x 20 minutes a week. All other subjects will set 1 x 20 min a week.
Year 8
Year 8 will have a maximum total of 6 hours and 20 minutes homework set per week. English and Maths will set 2 x 20 minutes a week. All other subjects will set 1 x 25 min a week.

In considering the health & safety of our community, the school has completed a COVID-19 Risk Assessment and the Governors are satisfied that the results of this allow for the school to remain open with mitigating controls in place to cover all key risk areas.
This risk assessment remains under constant review and monitoring by Senior Management, and the Board of Governors.
In summary:
The School continues to take measures to minimise the risk of transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19). This public health advice, is endorsed by Public Health England (PHE).
The School is regulated by the Department of Education whose contact details can be found on the DfE website: www.education.gov.uk and we are noted on the Edubase register available at: www.edubase.gov.uk. We are inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate - click here for our most recent Inspection Report.
